Utilizing ladder climbing as a valuable variation for conditioning

climbing stick by Cabela

Just want to give some insight into a relatively unknown form of conditioning using a “climbing stick” device purchased from Cabelas. The first time I encountered using a ladder for conditioning was years ago with the Versa Climber cardio machine. The climbing stick that I have recently incorporated into my training is a great addition to my conditioning program adding some variety. I incorporate it in 2 different ways: first I use it as just another movement in a interval type conditioning workout, using other exercises such as hill sprints, weighted hill walks, farmers walks, yolk walks, various sled drags, animalistic movements, etc. Another way is just using it for 15 -20 min straight. Try going up and down this thing , 20ft. up and back down and you will see how great this exercise can be as another form of cardio utilizing your total body.
